I. What Is 720?

720 is.

II. Configuration and Setup

Getting started with your own 720 system can be a daunting task, especially if your experience with primordial operating systems is limited. There are many unique problems that may present themselves in the initial configuration process, but the 720.os is well known for being a stable platform free from need of excessive "baby-sitting" which can be an enormous time drain for the sysadmin. Those who master the jam program and its complexities will be rewarded with a dependable system that will largely take care of itself.

In general (as well as in *the* general), if you were to "open up the hood" of 720.os and take a look, what you would see would be a seemingly chaotic dance between the subents, your own wetware limitations inherent in manifestation on this plane, and the aengels, which maintain a floating point background pattern until needed to assist a subent through the system, or to summon an energy focus in order to invoke ~jam.

Basically, aengels come to "save the day", sensing disturbances in the system and maintaining the karma.tbl files, essential to postnet OM protocol operations of any sort. Not much is known about their origin--they apparently just wrote themselves into the release of Docware 1.1 using the /binmake utility and a corrupted file off a boot disk of Docware 0.7 which Dr. J had spilled Cherry Coke onto during an allnighter at 720.labs; since then they have multiplied, and boosted the entire 720os. filegroup immensely, writing subprograms to solve problems within subents and then immediately broadcasting innovations to all systems on the 720.net infranetstructure, as well as to the gigantic OM BBS's for distribution to 720 Project sysadmins and enthusiasts throughout the universe...

Dr. J prefers to go light on any sort of documentation concerning aengels, saying that "it would just spoil it".

IV. 720 Resources

There are tons of places from which to procure 720 information throughout OM; however, if you do not have OM access, the pickings can sometimes be rather scarce! Eventually the 720land. W3 presence (which houses the latest edition of this FAQ) plans to host a full service 720 Project documentation page, for those whose access is "internet-only"...
